Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Paro

Day 2: Paro to Gyenekha and Trek to Gur

  • Distance: 7 km | 5 hours
  • Elevation: Start at 2,800 m (9,186 ft) to 3,290 m (10,794 ft)
  • Activities: Drive from Paro to Gyenekha (1.5 hours), the trailhead. Start with a steep ascent, then descend to a riverside meadow before climbing up to Gur.
  • Highlights: Campsite surrounded by lush vegetation and dramatic rock formations.

Camp overnight at Gur.

Day 3: Gur to Labatama

  • Distance: 12 km | 5 hours
  • Elevation: 3,290 m (10,794 ft) to 4,300 m (14,107 ft)

Day 5: Labatama to Panka

  • Activities: Climb and descend through passes with views of the Thimphu Valley, passing rhododendron bushes and colorful wildflowers. Visit Talakha Monastery before finishing the trek.
